About Wego

Wego is a multi-brand travel technology company operating across multiple global location with a focus on being the largest Travel brand in the MENA region. Our brands — Wego, WegoPro, ShopCash, and WegoBeds — serve millions of travelers and corporate customers across the region. We are a fast-moving, technology-first business where HR is expected to be a genuine strategic partner, not a back-office function.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to own the full HR function for our Cairo office. This is a senior individual contributor role — you will be the definitive people lead for Egypt, responsible for everything from day-to-day HR operations and compliance, through to strategic business partnering with local leaders and management teams.

This is not a coordinator role. We expect you to walk into a room with a leader who is about to make a people decision, challenge them if needed, and walk out with a better outcome. You will be the person Egypt leaders call when things get complicated — not when they need paperwork signed.

You will also be expected to work with AI tools and help shape how the People function modernises. Comfort with technology and a genuine curiosity about how AI can improve HR delivery are non-negotiable.

What You Will Own

HR Operations & Compliance

Own end-to-end HR lifecycle for Egypt: onboarding, offboarding, contracts, documentation, and employee records.
Ensure all HR processes and employee documentation are compliant, audit-ready, and consistently maintained.
Manage employee relations cases with sound judgement, confidentiality, and defensible documentation.
Keep Wego fully compliant with Egyptian labour law, staying ahead of regulatory changes and flagging risks early.

Business Partnership & Leadership Influence

Build trusted relationships with Egypt-based leaders and managers — position yourself as a go-to partner on people decisions, not just an approver.
Lead complex stakeholder conversations end-to-end: problem framing, options, decision, and follow-through.
Challenge leaders constructively on process, fairness, and risk — with confidence and diplomacy.
Proactively identify people risks before they escalate, present clear options and recommendations, and drive resolution.

Performance & Employee Relations

Coach managers to handle performance conversations and people issues earlier and more effectively.
Drive consistency in how performance conversations and disciplinary actions are managed across teams.
Build and improve simple prevention mechanisms — checklists, manager guidance, templates — that reduce recurring issues.

Egypt Market Intelligence

Maintain strong working knowledge of Egypt market pay and benefits practices, especially in tech and digital.
Provide data-backed input to the Global People team and TA on offer competitiveness, benefits expectations, and talent market context.
Translate market intelligence into clear implications for Wego — not just a summary of what others do.

People Data & Insights

Use HR data to identify themes and risks and translate them into concrete actions with clear owners.
Produce quarterly people insights: what is happening, why it matters, what we are doing about it.
Hold yourself accountable to follow-through — insight without action is not enough.

AI & Technology Adoption

Actively use and champion AI tools in HR workflows — from document generation and policy review through to data analysis and reporting.
Partner with the People Operations and TA teams to identify and implement AI-driven process improvements in the Egypt context.
Demonstrate digital fluency: you should be comfortable adopting new tools quickly and helping others do the same.

Who You Are

We are looking for a proven HR generalist who has operated at HRBP level — someone who has earned the trust of business leaders, not just managed processes for them.

You will have:

6+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2–3 years operating as an HRBP or senior HR generalist partnering directly with business leaders.
Full-cycle HR operations experience: you know how to run a compliant, well-controlled HR function from end to end.
Strong grasp of Egyptian labour law and regulatory requirements — you stay ahead of changes and translate them into practical action.
Experience in a technology, digital, or fast-growth company environment; understanding of the pace and ambiguity that comes with it.
Hands-on experience with ER and performance management, including handling complex or sensitive cases.
Data literacy: you can work with HR data, identify trends, and present insights clearly to a non-HR audience.
Genuine comfort with AI and technology tools — you adopt new platforms quickly and are curious about how AI can improve HR delivery.

You will stand out if you:

Have experience in a multi-country or regional HR environment, partnering with a global People team.
Have previously piloted or implemented AI or automation tools in an HR context.
Have demonstrable examples of changing how a leader behaved — not just advising them, but actually shifting an outcome.
Have built or contributed to an HR function that grew significantly in headcount or complexity during your tenure.

How We Work

Wego People operates as a lean, high-impact team. We expect every member to own their domain, surface issues early, and solve problems without waiting to be told. You will have a high degree of autonomy in how you run the Egypt HR function, and equally high accountability for the outcomes.

We use AI tools in our day-to-day work — for drafting, analysis, policy review, and process improvement. We expect you to be a practitioner of this, not just an observer.

Egypt is an important and growing part of the Wego footprint. This role has real visibility with global People leadership and the opportunity to shape how HR operates in the market.
