About the Role
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing data team. In this role, you’ll build and maintain scalable data pipelines, improve data quality, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver high-impact data solutions. You will also play a role in exploring emerging technologies including AI-assisted engineering to accelerate workflows and strengthen Wego’s data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Build efficient and scalable ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data, while maintaining existing datasets.
Ensure data quality through validation, cleansing, and automation of checks.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to design and enhance data storage structures and data collection processes.
Take ownership of new, complex initiatives to deliver data-driven solutions for business teams.
Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies to strengthen Wego’s data architecture and roadmap.
Explore and apply AI-assisted tools (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT) to accelerate engineering tasks, documentation, troubleshooting, and data workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in SQL (intermediate/advanced), with experience handling complex joins and optimizing large-scale queries.
Intermediate skills in Python (or other programming languages).
Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Airflow) and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience in ETL/ELT pipeline development, troubleshooting, and data cleaning.
Knowledge of data modeling or database/data warehouse design.
Experience with stakeholder management and gathering business requirements.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage workload to deliver projects on time.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud-based data solutions (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Snowflake).
Familiarity with integrating different data types and sources into cloud platforms.
Use of templating languages such as Jinja2 or Liquid.
Knowledge of data testing and validation frameworks.
Experience applying generative AI solutions to data engineering processes.
Experience implementing or maintaining AI agents using Google ADK or other open-source frameworks.
