Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Tech Lead to guide our engineering team within the Flights OTA (Online Travel Agency) domain. We streamline the booking and management of flights for travelers worldwide.

As the Technical Lead, you will play a crucial role in driving our technical strategy, leading key initiatives, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative team environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and cutting-edge technologies that enhance the user experience in the rapidly evolving travel industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering a psychologically safe and collaborative environment.
  • Shape the architecture of complex systems and get hands-on with system design and coding.
  • Own and operate production APIs and services with a focus on scalability and reliability.
  • Improve team productivity and mentor through coaching, facilitation, and regular 1:1s.
  • Collaborate with Product, UX, Data, and other teams to ship major initiatives.
  • ● Stay abreast of industry trends and evaluate new technologies for potential adoption.
  • Participate in the hiring process to build and grow a high-performing engineering team.
  • Ensure implementation of best practices for application security and data compliance.

Our Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have substantial experience in the Online Travel Agency (OTA) industry or a related travel domain.
  • Love bringing order to chaos and helping multiple stakeholders and engineers achieve a complex goal.
  • Be empathetic to both engineers and stakeholders, with a strong focus on supporting engineers.
  • Demonstrate strong follow-through and follow-up skills.
  • Value the importance of frequent, high-quality releases and short feedback loops.
  • Focus on solving customer problems, not just fulfilling requirements.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, including active listening, facilitation, coaching, and running effective meetings.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering with strong expertise in either backend or frontend development.
  • Proven technical leadership skills, including hands-on experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra), caching technologies (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
  • Strong experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Experience with Java, Go, or modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, scalability, and reliability best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across engineering and other disciplines.
  • Commitment to building and scaling engineering teams.
  • Experience helping shape product requirements into technical specifications ready for implementation by engineers.

What You’ll Do:

In the First Month, You’ll:

  • Get up to speed on our initiatives and systems, immersing yourself in both the technical and operational aspects.
  • Actively engage with the team across all phases—grooming, planning, coding, code reviews, and releases—to understand our workflows and contribute hands-on.
  • Meet each team member, learning their areas of expertise and building strong working relationships.

By Three Months, You’ll:

  • Actively contribute to roadmap prioritization.
  • Monitor engineering processes to identify and address common bottlenecks.
  • Begin regular 1:1 conversations with engineers to understand their challenges and support their growth.

By Six Months, You’ll:

  • Take ownership of the iteration planning process and strongly influence roadmap prioritization.
  • Implement improvements to enhance the team's effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Develop an intuition for project complexity based on your understanding of the team and technical assets.
  • Start actively managing and coaching the engineering team.

Why Join Us:

  • Work on challenging projects with a talented and diverse team.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for growth and continuous learning.
  • Make a significant impact in the aviation industry through innovative solutions.
  • Be part of an inclusive culture that values diversity and fosters belonging.
  • Contribute to our ongoing efforts to build a more equitable and representative workplace.
