As a Category Management Team Lead, you will take on a leadership role in overseeing and optimizing product categories within the Company. You will be responsible for building and maintaining robust relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the profitability of product categories. In addition, you will play a key role in analyzing industry and consumer trends, devising long-term development strategies, and communicating progress to upper management.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of category managers, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
Manage supplier relationships, including performance evaluations, contract negotiations, and issue resolution, to ensure high-quality products, timely delivery, and strong partnerships.
Negotiate promotions, discounts and campaigns with suppliers to drive customer engagement and maximize category sales.
Develop and execute category strategies to drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction within assigned grocery categories.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and competitive insights to inform category assortment decisions.
Collaborate with demand planning team to negotiate and maintain favorable supplier agreements, ensuring competitive pricing and optimal product availability.
Optimize product assortments based on customer demand, market trends, and sales performance data, ensuring a balanced and attractive product portfolio.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales, margins, inventory turnover, and customer feedback to assess category performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations, minimize out-of-stock situations, and optimize inventory levels.
Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging products to identify opportunities for assortment expansion and innovation.
Provide regular reports and insights on category performance, market trends, and competitive landscape to senior management and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Foster a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and continuous learning within the category management team.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
Proven experience in category management, merchandising, or product management, preferably in the e-commerce or grocery industry.
Strong leadership skills with experience in leading and managing teams.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to derive insights from data and market trends.
Solid understanding of category management principles, including assortment planning, pricing strategies, and promotional tactics.
Demonstrated experience in supplier management, negotiation, and building strong supplier relationships.
Proficient in using data analytics tools and software to analyze sales data and market trends.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Knowledge of logistics and last mile delivery operations is highly desirable.
Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
