Overview

We are looking for a Technical Team Lead to manage and guide a team of software engineers within the Fresh vertical (Toters grocery delivery business). This role will focus on shaping the end-to-end shopping and fulfillment experience, including search, ordering, and order fulfillment. The team is responsible for delivering a smooth, intuitive, and engaging shopping experience for customers as well as maintianing tools like the Picker App, which enables in-store pickers to efficiently prepare and fulfill orders. You'll play a key role in scaling and optimizing one of Toters' fastest-growing services.

The Role
The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with hands-on expertise in software development, solid experience in building and scaling mobile applications, and a deep understanding of mobile architecture, performance, and user experience, and a proven ability to drive projects forward while fostering team growth and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and architectural direction.
  • Ensure best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies to enhance system performance and reliability.

Team Leadership & Growth:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career development.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and technical excellence within the team.

Project & Delivery Management:

  • Help plan and oversee software development projects with project managers ensuring timely delivery.
  • Work closely with product managers and operations teams to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Drive Agile development processes to improve efficiency and adaptability.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Work closely with QA to implement robust testing and automation strategies.
  • Ensure software meets high standards of security, compliance, and performance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 6+ years of software development experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background in mobile development, including native iOS and Android platforms, as well as a solid understanding of mobile architecture, performance optimization, and user experience best practices.
  • Proven experience leading B2C engineering projects, particularly mobile applications with direct end-user interaction and high performance, usability, and reliability standards.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and software development best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience building and scaling B2C mobile applications with a focus on:
    • Seamless user experience for browsing, ordering, and tracking deliveries
    • High performance and responsiveness under real-time conditions
    • Scalability to handle peak hours, large user bases, and high order volumes
    • Integrated payments, promotions, loyalty programs
    • Location services, such as real-time tracking and geofencing
    • Customer feedback loops, including ratings, reviews, and support interactions
